Hernán González and Leandro Zipitría had an industrial band called Maldición in the period between 1993 and 2000. After the band's split-up, González continued producing electronic music under the name Cooptrol . In 2003 the idea of a new project comes around, one that could maintain the original Maldicion sound and concept, but in a new way. This is how Monotremata emerges, where González does the programming and vocals, and Zipitría plays guitars. We present today the resulting record “Reiteración+Retraso” . Six tracks of disturbing slowness and overwhelming sensibility.
Only 50 copies of this material were distributed in the underground demo circuit of Montevideo , and that was it. Monotremata did not continue as a project, but it's dense and profound sound remains, representing a luminous and elevated loneliness.
