In the Montevideo of 1995, the so-called "aternative waves" were starting to emerge in the form of bands influenced by hip-hop, nü-metal and electrónica, all worldwide expanding genres. Elefante was one of the bands that redefined the underground scene of the city.

By the end of 1999 they release their debut album "Elefante 1". The Elefante line-up was: Bestia (guitar), Choniuk (drums), Maneco (guitar, sampler), Harry (bass) y Stella (vocals). In 2001 the band is already completely submerged in these new tendencies which would change the sound of their second Lp "Bazar" (Koala Records, 2001). Rock and Electronica co-existed in this record, complementing themselves with no precise boundaries. In the year 2002 Koala releases "Forma", a CD in mixed audio/interactive mode, which aimed to bring to the audience the electronic sound of the band, plus exta material. The audio section of "Forma" contains tracks that fulfill this purpose, remixed by the members of Elefante. The interactive section included remixes of their previous record "Bazar", made by the electronic artists that composed the scene in that moment: Loopez, Cooptrol, Daniel Anselmi, HC Cerdo, TK90, La Teja Pride , Selectorchico, Listening Comprehention, etc. , plus graphic material and band videos.

Some time after the release of “Forma” the band splits. Stella, Maneco and Harry found Rendher, Bestia passes to Loopez, and Choniuk forms a new band that is yet to be presented in public. Today, we re-release the Elefante electronic record, so that we who lived that era and the ones that were too young to see them live, can enjoy the sound that dominated the Montevideo underground scene in 2002.
